Get your pyjamas and tiaras on!
For the past three years, Ty Hafan, a hospice which provides support for life- limited children and young people, have organised a midnight sleep walk charity event. This is to raise money (and awareness!) for the all the hard work the mothers of these children put in not just in the day but throughout the entire night as well. While we are tucked up in bed (or out drinking and having a good time), these women are still needed and so are still working.
Ty Hafan want to support parents just as much as their children and so events like these are organised.
The walk is around 6 miles and you have to do it in your pyjamas and, this year, tiaras to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Last year it was pyjamas and flashing, fluffy bunny ears! The route started in the Millenium Stadium, went around City Hall, back into town, down into the bay and around the Millenium Centre and then back to the stadium where a hot drink and bacon sarnie/croissant greeted us. This year the route has changed but we’re sure the tea and sarnie hasn’t!
The next one is Friday 4th May 2012.
Amanda Evans and Laura Howells did the walk last year and said that the atmosphere was amazing, really enthusiastic and cheery which keeps you going when it gets harder to push on. They advise comfy shoes, warm pjs (excuse to wear your onesie?) and friends to take along with you are a must. Which is great because you can get discounts if you book over five spaces .Though, it is women only (sorry boys!) – but men can marshal to help us ladies along the way.
Amanda and Laura are doing it again this year and want as many people to get involved as possible. The majority of funding Ty Hafan receives is from donations and fundraising events such as these, so, if you can, help them out. They also said that even though it is held in the run up to exams, it provides a much needed break where they do something different, meet people and have fun.

Please note : the event does fill up quickly – so don’t think about it for too long!
If you are going to sign up let us know. After the event, we will post up pictures and stories from the night here 🙂
